Oak-leaf papaya (Carica quercifolia) caricaceae
$8.00
Likely the most tolerant papaya of both extreme heat and cold. This papaya relative is a long lived species acquiring a big elephant foot base in age. It is also very drought tolerant, once established not needing water but it's recommended. Overall tree is very attractive including the pendulous orange fruits which are sweet and rich like common papaya. This species can also be used as a hardy rootstock for many more sensitive papaya varieties such as babbaco.
